Wouldn’t you know it. You do a favor for a guy that’s all the way across the ocean and this happens. So I’m naming names; that’s right and his name is Neil Shearing.
Neil has been around the internet marketing community for a long time. Here’s what he did to me…
Neil posted a tweet (do you know about Twitter?) that said he needed somebody in the U.S. to make a purchase for him and send the key code from the package to him (he’s in England). I tweeted back and said sure, I would be glad to help.
So I head to the store and make the purchase. I send Neil the code he needs and tell him how much I spent. He promptly PayPal’d the funds to me. Glad to help a friend out. Case closed.
Not quiet.
The next day I get and email from PayPal. What the…?
Seems we both forgot about the fees PP would tack on at my end of the transaction. So Neil just sends me more money - more than enough to cover the fees with a nice note about appreciating my time and trouble.
Here’s the deal. Neil took the initiative to do the right thing. I wouldn’t have worried about the few dollars it cost - I was glad to help out. So, if you think integrity is dead (especially in the wild, wild, west world of IM) think again. Neil Shearing is a stand up kinda guy and I’m glad to call him my friend. I just hope that someday I can travel across the pond to thank him personally and take him and Linda out to dinner.
Thanks Neil
